How
to USE
Using the Diapers
Putting on a cloth diaper is as easy as the 3 pictures on
this page. It’s a good idea to put on a plastic over
the cloth diaper. You can reuse the plastic a few times until
soiled or smelly.
Checking for a Change
Check the diaper every 15 minutes or so (every baby is different.)
Most babies will give you a little whine when they need a
change.
Laundry
Put the soiled diapers in a bucket with a few drops of tee
tree oil or some baking soda to control odor.
If the diaper has a runny poop, then scrub and rinse it out
in the sink before you toss it into the bucket. Flush solid
poops down the toilet. You can use a flushable diaper liner
to make this step easier.
When you are almost out of diapers, put a load in the washing
machine (cold pre-wash is advisable) on hot wash with a mild
detergent (use much less than recommended.) Don’t use
bleach or softener. Babies have sensitive skin and are not
used to chemicals. Put in the dryer or hang to dry.
What you need:
- 2-3 dozen Inara’s cloth diapers in the first two
sizes
- 4-6 plastic covers
- Bucket/tub for dirty diapers
- Scrub brush for quick poop removal
All this will cost about $150. It will last you for the first
year. You can then pick up another 2 dozen diapers and 4-6
covers in the next two sizes. This will cost you about $100. |
